I am a Professional Artist, currently living in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. I have been painting full time for more than ten years: prior to that I taught at Coventry University where I was a Principal Lecturer in charge of CRAFTS, Jewellery, Ceramics and Textiles, responsible for a Full Time and a Part Time B.A. Hons. Craft Course and for Foundation Art and Design.  After many years teaching students at Coventry University I now spend my time painting, I have a purpose built studio and I like to be working at my easel every day, whilst still running occasional classes for small groups.

My paintings are both narrative and autobiographical, I am inclined to take a theme and work on a linked series of ideas. Recent trips to Paris & Rome and holidays in Sicily, Sardinia & France have provided me with a huge source of visual material. Incidents and events that I have experienced and translated into images, observations of family events, or encounters with friends past and present, I enjoy the challenge of making an image that is entirely personal to me have universal meaning.

I particularly like titles as they provide me with the structure for beginning the work, giving me a focus and allowing me to bring a range of disparate images together. The activity of painting provides a route that has to be followed to the end.
